Joan Collins treated for smoke inhalation following ‘terrifying’ fire at Belgravia flat
Dame Joan Collins has thanked fire crews and the NHS following a ‘terrifying’ fire in her Belgravia flat over the weekend.
The actress, 85, shared the news her home had been engulfed in flames on Saturday, with 10 firefighters called to her central London home around 4.30 yesterday afternoon.
After the blaze was brought under control by 5.35pm, Joan took to Twitter to praise her ‘hero’ husband Percy Gibson who had attempted to quell the flames with a hand-held fire extinguisher.
‘THANK U from the bottom of my to the marvelous @LondonFire who attended to the terrifying fire yesterday in our flat,’ she wrote earlier today.
‘My hero Percy had already doused the flames consuming the entire wall with handheld extinguisher (#donttakethisrisk). #gratitude #firefighters.’
She added: ‘And thanks also to the @NHSEnglandLDN #nhs #emt #Ambulance crew who took care of our smoke inhalation and comforted me.

A statement from London Fire Brigade read: ‘Two fire engines and around 10 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat … in Belgravia.
‘Part of a flat on the first floor of the seven-storey building was damaged by the fire. Two people left the property before the Brigade arrived.
‘The Brigade was called at 1628 and the fire was under control by 1736. Two fire engines and a turn table ladder from Soho fire station attended the scene.
‘The cause of the fire is under investigation.’
Dynasty star Joan later took to Instagram to share a video of the charred interior of her home, as she wrote: ‘The remains of the day…’
As she panned her camera across the room, the blackened walls were revealed, while windows were taped up as the clean up was seemingly already underway.
