Indian Premier League season 12 has been phenomenal so far for 37-year-old Harbhajan Singh. It was thought that the off-spinner’s best days are behind him but he proved everyone wrong. He has been impressive for Chennai Super Kings this season after picking up 7 wickets in 4 matches and at an extraordinary economy of just 5.12. MS Dhoni has used him wisely to rattle the opposition on a slow MA Chidambaram Stadium track. But there is some bad news for CSK ahead of their game against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.
Harbhajan has picked up a neck injury and has not travelled with the CSK squad for their away IPL match against KKR as he is recovering from it. It has been reported that Harbhajan also has to attend some family issues.
"I was supposed to play in Jaipur against Rajasthan Royals but in the morning of the game, I had severe neck pain and had to pull out," Harbhajan told PTI on Saturday.
Harbhajan also revealed that while he was recovering from his neck injury, both his wife and daughter fell ill and he had to take the decision to not travel to Kolkata.
"Both my wife and daughter are not keeping well. I am in Mumbai taking care of my family. Once they get well, I will join the team back," said Harbhajan.
Harbhajan has been in phenomenal form for CSK this season as he has picked up two man-of-the-match awards in just 4 games. He has also been an integral part of CSK’s run to the top of the IPL table with 6 wins from 7 matches and has formed a lethal partnership with South African spinner Imran Tahir.
Harbhajan is likely to join the team for their ninth game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 17 or for the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 21.
